Darwin Day (Spring 2020)
Members of the Hull Lab hosted a table for Darwin Day 2020, an event focused on bringing evolution-themed exploration to kids, at the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery! The table taught K-12 students about how all diversity on Earth is made up of the same building blocks of life, cells! To illustrate the diversity of cells, kids went through an exercise coined “Guess the Cell-fie,” where they looked at thin slices of either an onion, mushroom, and lime under the microscope, and they had to draw and guess which of these objects they observed.
Hands on Science (Spring 2017)
The Hull Lab members had to opportunity to host a local middle school-aged Girl Scout troop for a program called “Hands on Science.” The members of the troop had fun learning about microscopy, microbiology, and the effects liquid nitrogen has on different objects.
